ABOUT STORIED
STORIED is devoted to preserving and sharing the life experiences of senior citizens
at senior centers in the Philadelphia area. By documenting seniors’ personal stories,
we will make their experiences accessible to fellow residents, staff members, family,
and friends. The collection of seniors' life stories will strengthen personal connections
within the senior center communities and beyond.

By telling seniors’ stories, we will ensure that their memories and experiences can be
heard, appreciated, and preserved. Through the sharing of meaningful anecdotes, we
will enable seniors to enliven their days through reflection and engagement, while
bringing understanding and wisdom to those around them.

The STORIED project will also create intergenerational connections between seniors and the teenagers documenting their stories. The sharing of seniors’ stories will enrich both of their lives by learning from each others' experiences and expanding their perspectives. Through the project, we will document the histories of our beloved senior citizens, making sure that their life stories continue to inspire generations to come.

Senior citizens’ life stories will be collected weekly at the senior center location.
Interviews will be conducted between a member of the center and a high school
student. The stories will be collected through note-taking and recordings which will
be transcribed into text. Interviews will be uploaded to a website or published in book
form, with each life story accompanied by a portrait photograph of the interviewee.
By documenting the Storied past of seniors, we will illuminate and share the wisdom,
complexities, and richness of their lives for all to see and enjoy.

About The Founder
My name is Harrison Cross. I am a junior at The Haverford School just outside
Philadelphia, PA. Growing up, I have always had a passion for history in and outside of
school. Studying the past and seeing how events that occurred many years ago affect
the present and future always interest me. I enjoy learning how we can grow from
past experiences. My interest in creating STORIED comes from my love of history and
desire to share the meaningful stories of our senior citizens, bringing them to life for the rest of their community and ours to appreciate and learn from.
